My professional biography

My name is Irina Tikunova. I was born in Arkhangelsk in 1962. Straight away after school I got a place at the Arkhangelsk College of Culture and two years later I finished it with honours. The same year I decided to enter the library faculty of the Leningrad Institute of Culture and my dream was fulfilled. In 1985 I graduated the Institute and got a job in Arkhangelsk Region Scientific Library named after Dobrolubov.

I have worked in Research Department for 15 years. Since 2001 I have been a scientific secretary of this library. For last five years I have taken part in different scientific conferences of librarians and information specialists in our country and abroad: in Moscow, Novosibirsk, Pskov, Ukrain, and Finland. In 2003 I took a course “Managing Multicultural Library Services” in libraries of the USA. I visited the libraries and information centers in Washington, New York, Chicago, Rino, Denver. In 2003 I was awarded the honorary diploma of Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for my work in the Library.

The topic of my investigation is “The Conceptual Model of a Modern Library: the Socially-Philosophical Analysis”. In 2006 I defended the candidate thesis on the same theme.
